Dear Ramco Employees,

In our continuing efforts to keep our employees informed and to address questions that some employees have asked, we wanted to explain to everyone the justifications management has reasoned through in keeping our operations in place at this point.

An increasing number of states have ordered the shutdown of different businesses or required consumers to stay home and shelter-in-place. Throughout this challenging period Ramco Specialties has focused on supporting the critical needs of our customers in the Heavy Truck and Automotive industries.

Under Governor DeWine’s “Stay at Home” order that went into effect March 23rd, 2020 he cited the use of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) list published by the US Department of Homeland Security Agency to determine whether a company considers itself and Essential Business and Operation. The State left this determination to management of companies on a self-assessment basis in accordance with the CISA guidelines.  These guidelines included the following provision:

Critical Manufacturing: Workers necessary for the manufacturing of metals industrial minerals, semiconductors, materials and products needed for medical supply chains, and for supply chains associated with transportation, energy, communications, information technology, food and agriculture, chemical manufacturing, nuclear facilities, wood products, commodities used as fuel for power generation facilities, the operation of dams, water and wastewater treatment, processing and reprocessing of solid waste, emergency services, and the defense industrial base.

In addition, consistent with the President’s guidelines: “If you work in a critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.”

Based on Ramco being a critical supplier of fastener products to the Automotive and Heavy Truck industries, management determined that Ramco qualifies as a supplier to a critical infrastructure industry.  This has been confirmed through correspondence we have received from a number of our customers on their own self assessments and requirements that we continue to supply them with needed parts for their production needs.  As a result, we are remaining open at plant and mainlining the needed staffing either at the Hudson facility or when practical working from home to address our current business needs.

We recommend that employees keep a copy of this letter accessible in case you need to show justification of coming to work.

We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.

Take care and stay safe,

The Ramco Management Team
